I just thought I would mention this little story-this is exactly the reason I only purchase from OLF sponsors. Every Jig, form, and piece of wood I have purchased from someone listed above.
I mentioned before I make custom pistol grips, I had a customer ask if I would make him a set if he supplied the wood. He said it was some kind of rosewood that cam from the Martion Guitar factory back in the early 70's--of course this got my attention. He mailed to large boards of Brazilian! Not sure if they would work for a gitter, I called the Zootman. He graciously offered to evaluate and resaw them. I was hoping to get bindings and smaller stock, but Bob thinks a 3 piece back and side set is possible--Yeah! I'm thinking Brazilian D-35 with an Adi top!!
This kind of support is why I will only buy from sponsors!
PS. I just placed an order for D-18 upgraded kit from John at Blues Creek, his kits seem to be the best out there--I've been checking around. I'll give a nice little update with pice when the kits arrives--does quilted mahogany sound nice???

Hey, that's awesome! Now how in the heck are you going to make the pistol grips if his wood is sawn up into your guitar?      Do you think the guy even realized what he had? That's a great score for you!

Glad to hear of your good experiences with the OLF suppliers. I too have found them to be very ethical and trustworthy- good experiences all around.

I'm sure I'm not the only person envying your 'good luck' with the Brazilian. After paying your customer fair market value for the BRW boards (and presumably making his pistol grips for free), how did it all work out?

Umm...yes, as others mentioned, he provided the wood for pistol grips...did he give you the rest, or is he expecting a bunch of pistol grips?

Don't worry, I didn't take advantage of him--he's a good customer. In years past, he use to have custom bows made and he got wood from the martin factory--stuff he said was thrown out?
He was cleaning out his garage and asked if I would make him a set of grips in exchange for the boards. He knew it was brazilian but did not know if it was suitable for guitars--I took a chance and accepted his offer--Bob siad its not perfectly quartered, but due to it being very seasoned, it will be fine.
Thats how it worked out. Glas to be associated with such an ethical bunch!

You should make him a pistol grip out of Granadillo or Cocobolo and tell him it shoots just like Brazilian.
